It’s unclear as to why residents were told to stay inside their homes.

Residents near Cape Cod Mall were told to shelter in place inside their homes as cops investigate the area[/caption]

The Barnstable Police did a reserve 911 call, urging residents not to leave their properties as they investigated the area.

However, police would not confirm what it is that they are investigating.

“Remain inside an interior room in your home, away from any windows.”

An all clear message will be given when the emergency has ended, police said.
