Dropping into deep midfield positions, the 21-year-old showed off his impressive passing range, sending Jadon Sancho in behind in the build-up to Ben Chilwell’s goal – before conjuring a stunning assist for Bukayo Saka’s.
The Irishman, 50, told ITV viewers: “I love my American football, and he is like a top quarterback, like Tom Brady.
“He’s just picking people out, he’s got runners, wide receivers, and he’s making it look so easy.”
Fellow pundit Ian Wright added: “I love it, I love watching where’s he playing in that two with James Ward-Prowse, who’s also doing really well.
“When you’ve got someone of this calibre, in these kinds of areas… with that quality, it’s very easy for him.

“This is what I’m quite pleased about with Gareth [Southgate], playing someone like Phil Foden in that position because, get another attacker on the pitch, get them on.
“Because you’ve got someone in that pivot two who’s got the ability of making passes like that [in the build-up to Chilwell’s goal].”
“His range of passing tonight’s been unbelievable.”
