Basically Like Holding the Sun in your HandIt is hard to describe the Imalent MR90 – it is built like an absolute tank. My first thought was that it was needlessly heavy. The solid metal construction makes it feel like it was built like a tank. You don’t want to drop this thing on your toe.The reason why it must be made of metal is because this thing generates a HUGE amount of heat. At its highest level the flashlight heats up so fast that it is nearly impossible to hold after 1 minute. On the third level the internal fans kick in – it kinda sounds like a laptop fanNotes- – Very bright. On its lowest level the Imalent MR90 is just an incredibly bright flashlight. By holding the power down for about 5 seconds the flashlight goes to the next level of brightness. At the highest level (which generates a HUGE amount of heat) the flashlight is bright enough to fully brighten a half acre almost to the point that rival daylight. It is amazing.- Not as much as flashlight as a floodlight. The beam isn’t as much as fine beam, but has a huge throw like a floodlight.- Very heavy.- I am not sure how long the battery will last at each setting. I gotta assume that it wouldn’t last that long at the highest setting.- The bottom cap looks kinda strange. It is just small metal cap that is unscrewed in order to charge the flashlight.Notes – A super cool, but a rather impractical flashlight. It is heavy…. generates a ton of heat.. but it is great handheld floodlight even if it is a bit impractical.

military likeI have lots of flashlights….I compare this to some of my Nightcore lights, about same price point, and lumens and size…this light is built ROCK solid…. very impressive. Nothing but the rear comes off.the size vs. lumens is superb, as good as any I have used.the weight is heavy, so dont plan on carrying it for long periods, unless u have very strong hands and arms….the pouch with belt loop, fits perfect as it should, nice add on…easy lumen output control, long press….amazing they have a fan to dissipate heat, brilliant…. heat is the enemy of all electronics.some of my $400 Nightcores failed, IMO, from too much heat, no ability to dissipate the can move from spot, flood, or spot + flood with 3 fast hits on the switch, your choice, very nice is not super tight, but decent, flood is impressive…. i.e. the outer LEDsthe battery based on specs built to last a long time, but I rarely run them down to empty. Did not test the long run life they advertise….of course, light intensity is what really matters here.the rear panel comes off to expose charging port. Use included charger, not USB.I would prefer to see rear hinged, so it remains captive, but not a deal breaker, just be careful not to misplace it while charging…Overall, this is a well thought out light with very flexible output, with every mix of flood, spot, flood + spot and the ability to change intensity. Controls worked as advertised. The box is awesome, makes for a great gift with such a well crafted presentation box.hard to find flaws here… considering the features, lumen output, battery size, price is very competitive….this flashlight is not for everyone, but it delivered on all its advertised features and packs a lot into a small package.5 stars.

Bright Flooder + thrower with active cooling There’s a lot of things I like about this flashlight and there are a few things that I don’t like.I like this flashlight because:* You can switch between a flooder (wide beam, close distance subject) and thrower (narrow beam for far away objects).* The thrower part of the flashlight uses 1 SBT90.2 LED that has a color temperature range of 5000K-5600K in my DIY testing. I haven’t met an SBT90.2 based flashlight that I don’t like yet 🙂 .* The flooder part of it uses 8 XHP70.2 LEDs and the interesting part is that they are arranged neatly above/below the thrower part of the flashlight.* It uses a battery pack that has 4×21700 batteries in them and unfortunately, you’d have to buy a new pack if it goes bad. I’m guessing this is done to assure safety?* You can lock the flashlight (4 clicks from off) and you can turn on the fans while the flashlight is off (press and hold the side switch for about 4 seconds)What I don’t like about this flashlight is that:* It gets hot fast and the two tiny little fans do not cool the flashlight fast enough. I don’t have an infrared thermometer to test how effective the two fans are at cooling the flashlight, but I’m sure they are better than nothing :-)* Low mode not low enough (400 lumens).Overall, the MR90 is a nice addition to my Imalent collection; I have 3 now 😀
