Product Description

Petzl Rig

Compact self-braking descender for rope access, designed for experienced users

RIG is a compact self-braking descender for rope access, designed for experienced users. It has an ergonomic handle that allows comfortable descent control. The AUTO-LOCK system allows users to easily position themselves at the work station without having to manipulate the handle or tie off the device. Once locked, the rope can be taken up without having to manipulate the handle. The safety gate allows the rope to be installed with the device remaining connected to the harness.

  • Designed for experienced rope access workers
  • Easy to use: – safety gate on the moving side plate allows the rope to be installed easily while the device remains connected to the harness, facilitating the passage of intermediate anchors – easy rope installation, thanks to the rope guide and markings – ergonomic handle allows the rope to be released and enables convenient descent control. Two possible descent modes: on the side plate or in the V-shaped friction channel – AUTO-LOCK system allows users to easily position themselves at the work station without having to manipulate the handle or tie off the device: as soon as the user releases the handle, the rope is automatically locked in the device. The automatic return system on the handle limits the risk of the device getting accidentally snagged – handle automatically switches to storage position when the rope is removed from the device, reducing the risk of accidental snagging when the descender is carried on the harness
  • Versatile: – once locked, the rope can be taken up without having to manipulate the handle, allowing for easy short ascents, for example – cam can be manipulated to take up slack easily or belay a lead using climbing techniques
  • The stainless steel wear plate improves durability by reinforcing the rope friction zone
  • Descending a heavy load up to 200 kg
  • Rope compatibility: 10 to 11.5 mm in diameter
  • Available in two colors: yellow and black

  • Material(s): aluminum, steel, nylon
  • Weight: 400 g
  • Maximum working load: 200 kg

Saved a catI bought this a little over a month ago with intentions of using it for rope rescue. I wasn’t expecting to use it to rescue a cat from a tree but it worked flawlessly

I want refund some money for itDamage packageNot good for it

One of the best investments I’ve madeOk, so picture this:You’re hanging out with your boys on a sunny afternoon, when all of the sudden you’re attacked by a hoard of angry, hungry, and very nimble zombies. Now, you’d think, “What the… ” but you know that zombies can’t climb ropes. At least not without being a Berzerker, right? So you throw your harness on, (buy a Black Diamond harness at half the price of a Petzl) then tie off that 11.4 mm tactical rope you’ve been saving in the closet for a “rainy day”, and toss it over the cliff. You tie in your RIG, ease toward the edge, and lock and load that AR-15 (assuming you don’t live in California, as the bullet button thing would prohibit such a fast laod…). You begin your descent, controlling your rappel with your left hand on the RIG, and blasting those communist zombies with the AR-15 in your right! Now THAT, is what I’m talkin about…The RIG is a good rig, and the only rig I’ll run is the RIG from now on… Unless I get a grigri, then I might run that, but the RIG is it for now.

It works very well never a problemIt works very well never a problem you do need to make sure you feed it the right direction

  6. Julio César Guzmán

Espero me sirvaThe media could not be loaded.

No tiene bloqueo anti pánico, esto debe ser usado por profesionales en trabajo en alturas y rescate

  7. Damian

Heavier than a GriGri but higher weight capacity.Operates as smooth as butter. Holds me in place perfectly and much higher safety factor for me cause I’m a heavier guy. Be aware this does not have an anti panic feature, you pull the handle and down you go,full send. Otherwise exactly the fit and finish I expected from this company. I would recommend this over a grigri for heavier climbers and workers.

Sar team stapleThis piece of kit is fantastic. Great for descending, ascending, lowering, belay… many applications. Everyone on our sar team is required to carry one.

  9. David Swanson

Not for mostExcellent descender for professionals. The Rig, unlike the IDs does not have a panic stop. If you are new to these type of descenders I suggest you look at the IDs and not the Rig.

  10. Gene Korn

No packaging and signs of wear.Arrived with no factory box or manual. Signs of wear in the rope channel. Somewhat suspect.
