Feature-Packed Entry Level Road Shoe
This entry-level road shoe deserves your attention. It shares DNA with Shimano’s top-of-the-line performance road shoes but comes at a more accessible cost. The glove-like fit, stiff sole, and SPD-SL / 3-hole cleat compatibility ensure pedaling efficiency, while the construction of the upper makes the shoe supremely comfortable however long your ride.

Optimal Pedaling Performance
The RC1 has three hook-and-loop straps that secure the foot while minimizing hot spots or pressure points. The stiff and lightweight fiberglass-reinforced nylon sole transfers your efforts directly to the pedals and the SPD-SL / 3-hole cleat compatibility keeps your foot in an optimal position for your best performance each time you get on the bike.

Long Lasting Comfort
The surround wrapping upper of the RC1 reduces overlap and provides a glove-like fit. The offset placement of the three closure straps secures the foot in place while relieving any discomfort or rubbing. Perforated synthetic construction maintains airflow as you put in the miles, keeping feet cool and happy in even the warmest conditions.

I love Shimano cycling shoes!I hope this review will be short, but I have a lot to say, so here goes. I had been watching these shoes even before I bought my first road bike because I’ve had a great experience with the CT500 shoes, which are brilliant, but for a proper road bike, I needed something more suiting. Problem is that I bought a pair of shoes from Specialized, to match my bike and they turned out to be terrible for me. Even with their own brand of inserts, I was suffering during my rides. So I decided to take the plunge with these, got them used(Amazon used, which means box opened and tried on then returned) at a great price. Immediately I could sense that these shoes were going to be better than the others. Simplicity is the name of the game here, with the three straps that get the shoes to fit reasonably well, although you shouldn’t wear cycling shoes too tight because of feet’s natural tendency to swell during hard activity which ends up causing discomfort and can affect circulation. But after my first ride with these, I knew they were keepers and I’ve been ecstatic with them for over 500 miles now. I use the Specialized Body Geometry inserts with these shoes since the included ones seem too flat and unsupportive. The shoes look great and understated and while they’re not super comfortable, still feel a little pressure at times and the occasional numbness when I’m really putting down the power, I’m not complaining one bit as I love these shoes. In summary, these are great for those getting their feet wet with their first pair of road bike shoes and something that definitely won’t break the bank either. I can’t wait to wear these out and get a higher end model.Update 8/05/2022I just realized that these shoes are actually too big for me. Problem is that folks with wide feet such as me, tend to incorrectly compensate a lack of width with a longer sized shoe, and this is wrong for so many reasons. Now I know why I get the numbness in my toes while riding with these shoes and it honestly has nothing to do with the shoes, but rather the way I chose the size of the shoes. The only way to do this right is to measure your feet carefully or just getting a professional bike fit that starts with the best shoe for you.But this goes to show how good these shoes actually are in the fact that despite how terrible this size actually fits me, they haven’t caused too many problems for me in the months I’ve been using them. But now I have to replace these with wide shoes that actually fit me. Now if I’d have chosen my proper size, which is more of a 42.5-43 instead of a 44, while they may have been too narrow, the cleat location wouldn’t have been as compromised as it has been for me.So in conclusion, these are great for those who are just getting started with road shoes with delta cleats, just make sure they fit like they’re supposed to.

THE PROCRASTINATION IS OVERI’m a 80 year old cyclist working on 400,000 life time miles. I’ve always worn shimano cycling shoes . I Literally wear them out by almost riding 30 to 40 miles daily. However as I have gotten older my right foot hammer toes and bunion have gotten worst. Getting harder and harder to fit. The last pair bought 12 years ago where heat shrunk to my foot and bought over size to be comfortable. I bought this beginner set to tide me over until the RC7 arrive in November. To my definite surprise they where comfortable from the start. I used Shimano’s guidelines . I wore them in the house for a couple of days and then to the road for sprints and super hard Strava segments and KOMs. Never pinch or pain . The bunion in the image is after 70 miles. Looks good as a bunion can look. This pair and the RC7 will probably be my last. HAPPY FEET

So far they’ve been great.I ride a lot. Over 100 miles a week ago this past Saturday and two 75 mile rides earlier in the week; over 315 miles total that week after getting these shoes. No discomfort at all. The Velcro straps are stiff and not easily adjusted, but not a problem, at least so far for me. No rubbing anywhere.

After trying RC300 and RC502, I must say this is the best…Originally bought a rc300, but the topline on the right shoe was too tight…replaced with RC502, but it’s even worse. It kept rubbing my little toe and it was a suffer to ride with. This shoe, although it’s the ‘beginner’s choice’, feel way more comfortable while equipped with everything for a cycle shoe. Love it!

A great shoe for the price!Force retirement of a Shimano RO85…12 years of use. This one is an excellent replacement. Comfortable, easy to adjust, no breathable. Hopefully this one will last longer than the last one. Shimano hits jackpot again!

This shoe fits my not-so-perfectly shaped feet.So far, so good. It’s got a reasonably stiff sole but is flexible and comfortable. Good buy.

Good valueThis is my first time using the SPD-SL cleats so I just wanted a basic shoe to let me try it out. For me, the fit was good and the shoe is very comfortable. I’ve worn them several times (and only tipped over once).
