EDDIE HOWE is the standout favourite to replace Ralph Hasenhuttl as Southampton manager, according to Betfair.
The former Bournemouth boss, who remains a free agent, was previously available at 10/3 but that price has shortened to 6/4 over the last 48 hours.

Hasenhuttl, 54, has endured a difficult start to the 2021-22 campaign.
The Saints are winless from their opening seven fixtures and hover just about the relegation zone with four points.
The Austrian has failed to secure a top-ten finish since his arrival at St Mary’s in December 2018.
He’s also been unable to finish a campaign with a positive goal difference, despite his attacking philosophy.
Hasenhuttl has, however, masterminded draws with West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City this term.
He’s managed that with a new-look attack and without the services of perennial talisman Danny Ings.
Nevertheless, Football Insider have claimed Southampton players are ‘expecting Hasenhuttl to be sacked’ in the coming weeks
If Saints chiefs DO give him the boot before his contract expires in June 2024 – Howe is the frontrunner.

The 43-year-old has been without a club since leaving Bournemouth and has obviously has strong roots on the south coast.
Frank Lampard and Alan Pardew are next in the betting at 17/2 and 9/1 with Steve Cooper in behind at 11s.
Mark Hughes, Sam Allardyce and Steve Bruce are all locked together at 12/1 while Javi Gracia is priced at 14/1.
Although some reports claim Hasenhuttl is nearing the end of his tenure – Saints chief executive Martin Semmens doesn’t agree.
Semmens told fan show Total Saints podcast: “We have a strategy set out. We are not going to win anything by being Chelsea, changing our manager, changing our players every year.
“That’s not the way we are going to be successful. We have set out a plan. We judge ourselves against that plan.
“Do we have 24, 25 or 26 players working hard and buying into the system, buying into Ralph, buying into the club and running, working hard for the fans? At the moment, I think we do.
“The players have bought into that model. That responsibility is the key trigger and if Ralph gets that, he will always get results for us.”
